Kenya’s Ministry of Transport in PPP's

February 08, 2010 Trackback Main Forum by Administrator Edit

Kenya’s Ministry of Transport observes a few lessons on its experience of PPPs as follows;

  1. Adequate capacity needs to be in place in Ministries for structuring of deals and negotiating deals to protect the public sector interest.
  2. Public and political acceptance of benefits of public private partnerships is needed.
  3. PPPs are not a panacea. They represent a claim on public resources that needs to be understood and assessed by the Government. They are often complex and long term and mistakes can be costly.
